TinySharp Thumbnail Audit & Repair

Audit WordPress image sub-sizes, find missing thumbnail files or outdated dimensions, and regenerate only what the current site configuration needs.

Non-destructive auditMissing-file detectionTargeted repairResumable jobs
No account and no external image service required

Scanning and thumbnail regeneration run inside the WordPress installation with core image APIs. Original uploads are not deleted by the plugin.

What the audit separates

Repairable current-size problems are not the same as historical metadata

Healthy

Required files and dimensions match

No regeneration is needed for the selected mode.

Repairable

Missing metadata, file or current dimensions

The plugin can rebuild the affected current WordPress image sizes.

Historical

Old unregistered size records

Reported for review instead of being deleted automatically because older content may still reference them.

Safe repair sequence

Scan first, choose a mode, then process one image per request

The plugin avoids one giant PHP request and stores progress so longer jobs can pause, resume or skip a blocking attachment.

  1. 1
    Scan & Audit

Inspect metadata and physical files without changing them.

  2. 2
    Choose repair mode

Repair detected issues, missing only, all current sizes or selected sizes.

  3. 3
    Run resumable processing

Continue the queue even when one image reports a normal error.

  4. 4
    Review the history

See checked, changed, generated, complete and attention-needed results separately.

Plugin FAQ

Questions about WordPress thumbnail audit and regeneration

The plugin repairs sub-sizes; it does not replace a compression tool.

Does the audit change files?

No. The Scan & Audit workflow is non-destructive and reports problems before a repair job is started.

Does the plugin delete original uploads?

No. Original uploads are never deleted by TinySharp Thumbnail Audit & Repair.

Why are old unregistered sizes not deleted automatically?

Older content can still reference those files directly, so historical records are reported for review instead of being treated as safe automatic deletions.

Can I regenerate only missing thumbnails?

Yes. Missing-only mode creates absent metadata entries and repairs referenced thumbnail files that no longer exist.

Does it compress images?

No. Thumbnail regeneration and image compression are separate tasks. Use TinySharp Image Optimizer Connector for compression and modern format workflows.
